U.S. Post Office Processing + Distribution Center
Before working with Salter, the occupants of the Administrative Tower at the Oakland Processing and Distribution Center had their meetings and telephone conversations interrupted by the loud noise of nearby trains. With the BART train tracks just 100 feet away, and inadequate sound-isolating windows throughout the facility, the building had significant speech interference problems. Our firm recommended the installation of mock-up window assemblies in selected areas, which effectively reduced BART noise and improved speech intelligibility. Retrofit windows were then installed throughout the four-story Administration Tower building for noise control.
