Well-known and loved, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has been providing conservation and education around marine life for over 30 years. Salter was responsible for the acoustic design of the aquarium’s exhibit and circulation areas, with the goal of achieving comfortable levels of sound and reverberation. Additionally, we developed noise and vibration reduction measures to minimize the auditory impact of building systems and equipment in the 300-seat auditorium, restaurants, classrooms, offices, and research facilities. The award-winning aquarium now hosts more than 550 species, aided by the natural diversity of Monterey Bay’s marine ecosystem, and is a world-renowned destination for tourists, students, researchers, and conservationists alike.
