Bankhead Theater
Livermore, CA
Construction of the new Bankhead Theater presented a challenge in the form of a railway line just 200 yards from the proposed 507-seat theater’s stage. Salter helped create sound isolation solutions to mitigate the noise and vibration from passing trains, as well as with theater acoustics, HVAC noise reduction (including an under-floor air supply system in the theater), and sound system design. Today, it serves eight local performing arts organizations and hosts opera, symphony, dance, chorus, film, and touring artists, as well as civic lectures and science education programs.
