Whole Project Approach
At every project’s start, I make myself familiar with all available conceptual designs as well as the intended activities and practices for the space. I believe form must be informed by function and acoustical function should also follow the architect’s form. When it comes to technology systems design, I prioritize architectural integration and user functionality for practical benefits and subtle physical presence. I look for economy in the means and methods of potential solutions (such as phased implementation), spending only as much as is needed to solve the acoustical problem.
Bay Area Professional – A Lifestyle Choice
Before joining Salter in 1984, I worked for the U.S. Navy in submarine acoustics just long enough to ensure the fall of the Soviet Union (seemed like a good idea at the time). I enjoy my long working relationships here at Salter and have seen our firm grow significantly with the addition of many very talented characters. I have begun the latter half of what will be a three-decade run parenting K-12 school students (three great sons, not one unmotivated one), so spare time is fleeting.
