Palomar Medical Center

Escondido, CA

This new $956 million medical center was completed in 2012 in Southern California. The 360-bed acute-care hospital is 740,000 square feet with an 11-story patient tower, 2-story diagnostic and treatment wing, central utility plant, 12 operating rooms, 17 radiology rooms, and 2 trauma rooms. The primary acoustical issues included mechanical noise and vibration control, room acoustics, sound isolation, and vibration reduction to sensitive spaces including MRI and operating rooms. We also addressed environmental noise from medical helicopter operations.
