Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center Replacement

San Francisco, CA

Salter provided acoustical consulting for the new hospital tower and medical building. The 500,000 square foot project increased the bed capacity to 1,200 from 1,062. Laguna Honda’s new single-site skilled nursing and rehabilitation center is the first LEED certified hospital building in California, with a certification of LEED Silver. Acoustical design issues included mechanical noise and vibration reduction, room acoustics, sound isolation, and reducing hospital noise to adjacent buildings and land uses.

According to the San Francisco Department of Health, “this facility will be among the most innovative, technologically advanced, efficient, flexible, humane and natural facility in the world. It will, by design, encourage rehabilitation and independent living while setting the standard for enhancement of the quality of life.”
