Hamel Family Wines
Sonoma, CA
Sonoma’s Hamel Family Wines is known for its picturesque setting and bold architectural forms. The 25,000 square foot building, constructed from wood and rammed earth, opened in 2014 to local press acclaim and multiple industry awards. Salter consulted on the new winery’s sound isolation, HVAC noise and vibration, and room acoustics. We incorporated subtle acoustic finishes including a noise-absorbing wood slat ceiling in the tasting room and sound-absorptive acoustical plaster that looks like rock in the wine cave. In the private tasting room, we also helped troubleshoot a noisy refrigerator that was installed incorrectly. By listening to the client’s aesthetic intents and providing rapid responses, we contributed to a successful project that continues to support a thriving winery today.
